1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using ContractShield ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of service

ContractShield is an AI-powered mobile application that analyzes legal documents and provides plain-English summaries, risk scores, and suggested negotiation language. The App is intended for informational purposes only.

3. Not legal advice

ContractShield is not a law firm. The information provided by the App — including risk scores, clause summaries, benchmarks, and negotiation scripts — does not constitute legal advice and does not create an attorney-client relationship. You should not rely on the App as a substitute for professional legal counsel. For matters of legal significance, consult a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction.

4. Account registration

You must create an account to use the App. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.

5. Subscriptions and payments

• Free tier: 3 analyses at no charge. No payment required.
• Pro subscription: $9.99/month or $71.88/year (equivalent to $5.99/month), billed in advance. Includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.
• Pay-as-you-go: $2.99 per single analysis or $14.99 for a 10-pack of analyses. Credits never expire.
• All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. By subscribing, you agree to Apple's payment terms. Subscription billing and management are handled through your Apple ID.
• You may cancel your subscription at any time via iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
• Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the App's source code
• Use automated tools to access the App at scale
• Resell or redistribute the App's analysis output as a commercial service
• Upload documents containing content that violates any applicable law

7. Intellectual property

ContractShield and all associated content, features, and functionality are owned by ContractShield and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Analysis results generated for your documents are yours to use for personal, non-commercial purposes.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that the analysis results will be accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. AI-generated analysis may contain errors or omissions.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ContractShield shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from the Account screen in the App.

11. Changes to terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
